Tanker Truck Fire Crash On 710 Freeway

By Paul Johnson

Commerce, California (CNN) - A Good Samaritan risked his own life to save a truck driver from a fiery crash on a California freeway.
A double tanker carrying crude oil erupted into flames after the driver hit a guardrail in commerce Sunday morning.
Fire officials say the cab of the truck flew over the edge of the freeway -- crashing to the ground with the driver inside.
A good Samaritan managed to pull the driver out of the wreckage.
"the tank on the freeway is completely burned to the ground. The tractor tanker hanging over the side is completely burned and there's four or five, five or six other vehicles on the street that are completely burned and this person was alive."
The truck driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition with burns over 40 percent of his body.
The Good Samaritan suffered minor burns to his hands.
