UPDATE 11:00 AM TUESDAY - A 15 year old in juvenile detention is now accused of pointing a weapon at a school bus driver in the area of N. Five Mile and W. Ustick Roads leading to a second aggravated assault charge. Investigating officers say the incident reportedly occurred just prior to the teen pointing a weapon at an elementary age girl walking to the bus stop in the same area.
Officers have also found evidence the teens committed a burglary (shoplifting) at a local retailer this morning. Felony burglary charges are pending against at least two of the teens.
UPDATE 3:50PM - Boise Police have taken a 15 year old boy to juvenile detention and charged him with felony aggravated assault after he reportedly pointed a weapon at a young girl as she walked to the bus stop this Monday morning.
The teen was taken into custody after officers found the vehicle he was riding in thanks to the excellent description of the car given by the ten year old victim.
"She recognized the danger and immediately sought out a trusted adult, in this case her mom, who called police," said Lt. Rob Gallas. "This family can be extremely proud of how well this child reacted, right down to her ability to give a very accurate suspect description despite being understandably frightened. She did all the right things and was a great help."
Boise Police were called at 8:28 a.m. by the mother of the young girl who reported to officers what had happened.
The little girl says she was walking to the bus stop in the neighborhood southeast of N. Cloverdale Rd and W. Ustick Rd when a car with four teens pulled alongside her. One boy pointed what she said appeared to be a black handgun toward her. The girl told officers she was scared and crouched down until the car drove away. She then ran to the bus stop, and when she got to school, immediately called her mom who called Boise Police.
Officers say the girl was able to provide a very detailed description of the suspect vehicle, the teen who pointed the weapon and the weapon itself.
Because of the potential for danger to the community, numerous officers responded and immediately began searching the area for the suspect vehicle.
Shortly before 9:00 a.m. the vehicle was spotted traveling south on Milwaukee Street between W. Northview St. and W. Fairview Ave. Because officers had evidence the occupants of the suspect vehicle were armed and potentially dangerous, officers conducted a high risk "felony" traffic stop. The suspect vehicle stopped in a business parking lot on the northeast corner of Fairview and Milwaukee.
Four teens who were inside the car, three boys and one girl, all 15 years old were taken into custody for questioning.
A black gun that turned out to be a BB gun was found inside the suspect vehicle.
At this time, one remains in custody. The other three have been released to the custody of their parents.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible including reports the teens may have pointed the weapon at several other citizens this morning, fired bb's toward parked cars, stole several items from a retail store and were driving without privileges.
Crash Investigation: The officer involved in a collision with two other vehicles as he responded to the high risk stop this morning has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. No one else was injured in the crash. The Idaho State Police are conducting the investigation into the collision.
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Four juveniles are in custody after police say someone pointed a gun at a 10-year-old girl as she was walking to school Monday morning.
