One Person Dead Following Multiple Car Pileup

Idaho Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Idaho State Police say a three vehicle pileup near Idaho Falls has claimed the life of a woman. The accident happened Monday in the northbound lane of Interstate 15 north of the Dads Truck Stop. Police say Adrianne Elliott, 23 of Ammon was northbound when the vehicle struck a patch of ice. Elliott then struck a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz being driven by Amanda Sterling, 30, of Idaho Falls. Elliott's vehicle was then struck on the passenger side by a 2012 Dodge 3500 pickup pulling a 2002 Haulette trailer being driven by William Jesperson, 70, of Riverton, UT. Elliott and her infant daughter were transported by ground ambulance to East Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Elliott's other passenger, Dora Heiner, 74, of Idaho Falls, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead on scene. Sterling and Jesperson were not injured in the crash. Everyone was wearing their seatbelts, and the infant was properly restrained in a safety seat.

This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
