California Officials Say Google Lacks Necessary Permits For Bay Barge

By Paul Johnson

Treasure Island, California (CNN) - Google's giant floating showroom in San Francisco bay may have to move elsewhere.
State authorities now say Google doesn't have the proper permits to build the barge here.
Spotted late last year and first known only as the "Google mystery barge," the company eventually announced the barge would be an "interactive space" showcasing new technology.
Construction of the four-story barge has since stopped.
The San Francisco bay conservation and development commission announced this week that Google didn't have the necessary permits, and officials say the barge will have to move -- at least for now -- to comply with state law.
