Utah woman dies In avalanche

American Fork Canyon, Utah (CNN) - A 21-year-old Brigham Young University student died Sunday after being caught in an avalanche.
It happened in American Fork canyon, near the southeast corner of Salt Lake City.
Ashleigh Cox was snow-shoeing in the area with five others Saturday when the wall of snow carried her to a nearby creek.
Authorities say she was buried face-down for about 40 minutes before she was pulled out.
Cox was on life support until Sunday afternoon.
There have been hundreds of avalanches in the area over the past two days.
Officials at the avalanche center blame high winds and old snow for the dangerous conditions.
