DRAPER, Utah (AP) _ Utah's Board of Pardons and Parole says a
man who was once on death row for a 1982 murder will not get a
chance at parole.

In a news release Monday, the board said 74-year-old Elroy
Tillman will spend the rest of his natural life in prison. The
decision comes a little more than seven months after Tillman's only
parole hearing, where he denied killing Mark Schoenfeld in 1982.

Schoenfeld was bludgeoned to death with the blunt end of an ax
while sleeping and then burned in his bed. Prosecutors said Tillman
was jealous because Schoenfeld was dating his ex-girlfriend.

Tillman was originally convicted of the crime and sentenced to
death, but in 2001 misplaced case evidence was found. The discovery
was made weeks before Tillman's scheduled execution.

The Utah Supreme Court overturned Tillman's death sentence in
2005.
