MOAB, Utah (AP) _ It's a ``punkin chunkin'' record.
Or at least that's the hope of a team that spent Halloween
weekend launching the gourds into the air.
The ``Big 10 Inch Team'' from Pennsylvania, Delaware and New
Jersey says that on Sunday it launched a pumpkin 4,623 feet,
topping the former Guinness World Record in vegetable chucking by
132 feet.
The team used a 90-foot, compressed-air cannon and traveled to
southern Utah hoping the high elevation and thin air would help
them set a world record.
The group is awaiting final verification from Guinness World
Records.
The team launched its pumpkins during the Youth Garden Project's
Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival in Moab. They say they used their best
pumpkin to break the record and that it traveled more than 700 mph.
