ELKO, Nev. (AP) _ An Elko County woman accused of murdering her
76-year-old mother three years ago has pleaded not guilty by reason
of insanity.

Teresa Wise of Deeth entered the plea in the death of Mary Lou
Wise during an arraignment in Elko on Monday before District Judge
Andrew Puccinelli (POO-chih-NELL'-ee).

Investigators say Teresa Wise made incriminating statements and
admitted killing a woman in March 2007, but claimed the victim was
an ``impostor'' and not her real mother.

A medical examiner said the victim died of asphyxia caused by
duct tape and plastic bags over her face and blunt force trauma.

The trial is set for July 20-23.
