Alaska's Same-Sex Marriage Ban Challenged
Anchorage, Alaska (CNN) Five couples in Alaska have filed a lawsuit challenging the state's same-sex marriage ban.
The Anchorage Daily News reports that the suit claims the ban violates the couples' due process and equal protection under the 14th Amendment.
In 1998, voters approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman.
This lawsuit comes as a judge in Arkansas declared that state's same-sex ban unconstitutional last Friday.
