Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Changes are coming for Camp Rainbow Gold following dicontinuation by the American Cancer Society.

Camp Rainbow Gold decided to pursue an independent 501C3 status. because the ACS decided to phase out all youth oncology camp and college scholarship programs.

The oncology camp has functioned under the American Cancer Society for 29 years, but after looking at its programs and initiatives, the ACS decided to focus on activities that reach the most people and save the most lives.

Camp Rainbow Gold will officially become independent on December 31st. Officials say donations will be critical during this transition.

History: Camp Rainbow Gold, including its summer programs, provides nearly hundreds of cancer survivors with an escape from the everyday strains of their illness. The camp is held at Cathedral Pines in Ketchum after originally being located in McCall.
