Army Ship Runs A-Ground
Chiniak Bay, Alaska (CNN) A U-S Army boat hit something and took on water Friday night in Alaska's Chiniak Bay.
The crew then successfully beached the boat on a desolate island. Coast Guard members responded to the crew's mayday call by helicopter. People in fishing boats nearby also helped out, with one boat taking two injured crewmembers to get medical help. One of the Army vessel's fuel tanks is reportedly damaged, so now the focus is on containing and cleaning up the fuel leak. Comments ( |
