Asiana Fined For Failing To Assist Families Following Deadly Crash
San Francisco, California (CNN) Asiana Airlines is facing a fine for failing to help families following the deadly crash in San Francisco last July.
The U.S. Department of Transportation fined the Korean airline 500-thousand dollars.
The DOT says Asiana was slow to publicize a phone number for families to call to get information.
It took two days for the airline to contact most of the passengers' families.
Some of the families didn't hear from the airline until five days after the crash.
Three of the 291 passengers were killed when the Boeing 777 struck the seawall at San Francisco International Airport and tumbled down the runway.
