Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Contractors with the City of Twin Falls began phase one of hauling clean-fill dirt and large boulders.
The removal of the dirt and boulders will make way for new clarifier and aeration tanks.
This will nearly double the capacity of the treatment facility.
Auger Falls Recreation Area will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The closure will allow large trucks to safely carry up to 40 loads of dirt and rock without endangering visitors to the recreation area.
The recreation area will also be open to the public all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
"The city of Twin Falls wastewater treatment plant was nearing capacity. This means that we couldn't actually allow for any new large industrial development, or even 5 or 10 years out we couldn't allow any future residential development,” explains Joshua Palmer, Twin Falls Public Information Officer.
Construction from the Twin Falls wastewater treatment plant to the Auger Falls Recreation Area will last through the summer of 2014.
