Authorities Release Video Of Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

Eloy, Arizona (CNN) Authorities have released video of a fatal, officer-involved shooting in Eloy, Arizona.

The video is from the officer's body camera.

Authorities say the officer was searching a neighborhood after a burglary alarm at a nearby business.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office...

The officer, walking on a public street, shined his flashlight towards a man outside his home and saw the man pointing a gun at him.

He yelled for the man to put the gun down, but instead he shot at the officer and the officer returned fire in self-defense, fatally shooting the man.

The officer did CPR until paramedics arrived.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The officer is on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated - a standard procedure.

According to the family of the man who died...

He thought there was an intruder trying to break in, he couldn't tell it was a police officer shining a light on his house, and he was trying to protect his family.
