Nampa, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Authorities in Nampa say that an 11 month old baby was killed in Nampa Thursday afternoon. It happened after a car was unintentionally left in gear. Nampa Police say a mother was picking up her three children just after 4pm. The accident happened at the Country Living Mobile Home Park on Caldwell Boulevard.
According to reports, after she put the 11 month old and a two year old in the car, a third child opened a door to get in and the 11 month old fell out onto the ground. Investigators say the mother got out of the car to get the infant, not realizing the car was still in gear. After she picked up the infant, police say the car rolled backwards. The car, ran over both the mother and the 11-month old. Police say the car rolled 90 feet, with the two year old still inside. It stopped after it collided into a parked car.
The mother and the 11 month old were both taken to a hospital where the infant was pronounced dead. The mother suffered non-life threatening injuries. The other two children were not hurt. Reports indicate none of the children were in car seats or wearing seatbelts when the incident occurred. The investigation continues. At this time no charges have been filed.
