Albuquerque, New Mexico (CNN) - A sad day in New Mexico for the family and friends of a missing firefighter.

Search teams finally found the body of 41-year-old Token Adams Friday after an eight-day search through rugged terrain in Jemez.

Adams disappeared last Friday while checking a fire in a forest in Jemez. State police spokesman Manny Guttierez explains how they found him.

“We offer our condolences and prayers out to the Adams family. Today at approximately 11:45 a.m. a male subject was located deceased and positively identified as Token Adams. He was located on top of a mesa and he was located by Jemez crews out of Jemez Pueblo.”

Officials believe Adams died in an ATV crash. He leaves behind a pregnant wife and a four- year-old-son.
