By KMVT News

Oakland, California (CNN) Tuesday is primary day in eight states across the country.

In California, Governor Jerry Brown, along with his wife, cast his vote at a polling place near his home in Oakland Hills.

Brown is hoping to win a historic fourth term leading the state.

"No one knows what tomorrow will bring. And there's always issues, there's catastrophes, there's scandals, there's mistakes. So I'm a bit worried," he says.

Polls show Brown with a strong lead over chief Republican competitors Neel Kashkari and Tim Donnelly.

In California, the top primary vote getters, regardless of political party, move ahead to the November election.
