California State Senator Facing Corruption Charges Pulls Out Of Secretary Of State Race
San Francisco, California (CNN) Federal authorities arrested a California State Senator Wednesday as part of a massive corruption crackdown in San Francisco.
Leland Yee is accused of gun and drug trafficking, corruption, and soliciting money for political favors.
Yee was running for California’s Secretary of State.
But Thursday, his attorney, Paul DeMeester, read a statement showing those plans have changed…
"Dear Debra, I hereby withdraw my candidacy for election to Secretary of State, effective immediately. With best regards, signed Leland Yee."
The attorney says Yee intends to plead not guilty to the charges against him.
