Car Strikes Lightpost Along Freeway Near Boise Causing Multiple Vehicle Pileup

By Paul Johnson

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Idaho State Police say they were called to the scene of a multiple vehicle pileup around 2:30 am this Tuesday Morning, after another car struck a light pole along I-84. Authorities say they are looking for a passenger car that struck the pole while traveling eastbound near milepost 51. The vehicle left the right hand side of the road striking the pole. It fell across the eastbound lanes of travel. That caused the first vehicle to strike the pole. Then a semi truck and trailer struck the pole sending it into the guardrail coming to rest in the westbound lane, spilling diesel fuel onto the Interstate. Both directions of travel were closed as crews worked to clear the scene. Three people were sent to the hospital for medical treatment. Boise and Meridian Police assisted with traffic control until 5:30 a.m. when westbound lanes were cleared and re-opened. (Photos courtesy of KBOI-TV)
