HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) _ Nevada casino regulators are giving preliminary approval to reopening the shuttered casino at Lake Las Vegas under new management.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Nevada Gaming Control Board agreed to recommend letting Intrepid Gaming reopen Casino MonteLago on May 26. The Nevada Gaming Commission will be asked for final approval.
The only casino in the MonteLago Village Resort closed in March 2010. Then-owners CIRI Lakeside Gaming cited the closure of the Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas resort next door.
The surrounding Lake Las Vegas residential and commercial
development 20 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip reorganized
In February, Dolce Hotels and Resorts reopened the former
Ritz-Carlton as the Ravella.
The casino plans to open with 275 slot machines and electronic
table games, and fewer than 100 employees.
