Boise, Idaho (KBOI) As technology becomes smaller and portable, it's also bringing along a danger of distracting people. And it's becoming a much bigger problem among teens.

We know texting while driving can be bad, but experts are now warning about the dangers of distracted walking.

And the number of injuries are rising among teenagers with phones being able to do so much. There are even more things to keep people occupied.

That can be dangerous if you're not watching where you're going. Most students on the BSU campus say they're not surprised by the increase of injuries.

Michael Tetro, a BSU student adds, "you will see people walking across cross walks, you will see people walking with their phones ignoring traffic signals stop and go signals they don't notice when they are texting. And it's very dangerous I can see a lot of people getting hurt from it."

Some officers say they've seen students nearly get hit by cars because they weren't paying attention to the roadway, but their phone.

Experts say the number of injuries from distracted walking is vastly under reported because many hospitals don't keep stats and patients won't usually admit they were using their cell phones.
