Portland, Oregon (KPTV) A drunk driver crashes through a Portland home Friday night at nearly 100 miles per hour, just barely missing the homeowner inside.
From the damage it looks like the house was hit by a tornado and homeowner Greg Buckland says it might as well have been.
He lost nearly everything. The inside is unrecognizable.
Buckland says: this was a bedroom this was a wall this was the dining room this was the living room.
Greg was heading to bed Friday night when he heard a strange noise outside. He didn't even have time to react.
Buckland says: as I got right here I heard a lond noise. A car came flying through and landed in here it hit me and knocked me through that wall right there and continured and wet out there and landed by the arborvitae.
Cops say a drunk driver crashed his car through the middle of greg's house going nearly a hundred miles an hour. Once Greg got back up he confronted the driver trying to leave.
Buckland says: I said what in the world did you just do? And he goes well obviously I just drove my car though your house. Police arrested James Anderson and charged him with driving under the influence, criminal mischief and reckless driving.
Greg spent the day looking cleaning up the mess, but he thinks the house it a total loss.
Buckland says: you can see that it knocked the entire roof line 5 or 6 inches and cracke the whole house
In the backyard friends helped fish debris out of this koi pond.
Greg says the fish probably won't make it.
Buckland says: that was kind of my pride and joy we built it from scratch when we got the house.
Greg says he hurt his shoulder in the crash – which was already healing from a recent surgery.
As bad as it is? He's lucky to still have his life.
Buckland says: I'm just thankful I'm alive i thank God for that it could have been a lot worse. I'm thankful for the little things right now.
