Idaho Falls, Idaho ( KIFI-TV ) - The breach at Target is having a huge effect on checking accounts at least one regional credit union.

The debit cards of hundreds of East Idaho Credit Union members stopped working Thursday night.

The credit union's CEO told us there was already a significant amount of bogus charges on customers accounts. So the credit union said it had no choice but to shut down hundreds of debit cards in an effort to prevent any more fraudulent charges.
Customers will be issued new cards and will be arriving in the mail soon.

The Target breach affected possibly 40 million shoppers nationwide from Nov. 27 to Dec. 15. The thieves reportedly gained access to data on the magnetic strips of shoppers' cards, according to CNN.
