Four Children Burned in Parade in Utah

Orem, Utah (CNN)

Four children were injured after catching fire during a patriotic cannon firing in Utah.

The incident occurring Saturday night in the city of Orem during their annual Summer Fest Grand Parade.
Corina Johnson, a registered nurse who was at the parade, said she rushed to the scene after the incident.

She added that the children involved, all between ages of ten and twelve, appeared to have suffered first and second degree burns on their arms and waists.

Corina Johnson witnessed the incident and explains, "originally there was just a bunch of smoke, and we saw a kid duck out from underneath and then we saw three different kids on fire. There were people yelling to stop, drop and roll, water bottles flying so they could get some things going, me and another nurse were sitting on the side and ran over to kind of help."

Three of the children were taken to the hospital.
Johnson added that the injuries did not appear to be life–threatening.
