General Motors Addressing Major Recall Issue

By KMVT News

Seattle, Washington (CNN) General Motor mechanics are getting ready for a heavy workload.

They're going to be replacing faulty ignition switches that have been recalled.

The recalled switches can immediately shut off, and leave drivers with disabled power braking and power steering.

However, the new parts haven't arrived in all Chevrolet locations, including the one in Seattle.

Spokesman Bob Manning says they're hoping the switches come sooner rather than later…

"Well, as of Friday, we were telling them that we didn't know when the parts were going to be here. Everybody that I know that we talked to, they know the parts are not in. If they just drop in, then we would have to tell them the same thing."

Officials say at least 13 people have died as a result of being behind the wheel when the recalled switches failed.
