Hell Roaring Fire Nearly Contained

Stanley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Firefighters have began to mop-up the Hell Roaring Fire. Officials with the Sawtooth National Forest say the fire is now 90-percent contained with full containment this Monday evening. The fire is 325 acres in size. Firefighters will continue to mop-up and secure the fire perimeter Monday. Approximately 158 personnel are committed to the effort including 3 crews, 2 helicopters, 2 engines and miscellaneous support personnel. No structures have been lost and none are immediately threatened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Hwy 75 is open and the majority of trails, campgrounds and recreation sites on the Sawtooth National Recreation Area are open, including those at Redfish, Stanley, Alturas and Pettit lakes. An Area Closure remains in effect on the western side of Hwy 75, directly across from the Williams Creek Trailhead, which includes the Hell Roaring Trail and the southern portion of Forest Road 210 from Hell Roaring through Decker Flat.
