Idaho Falls Police Officer Injured By Distracted Driver

Idaho Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Idaho Falls officer Michael Cosens, 49 of Idaho Falls was injured following a three vehicle accident this Friday morning. Idaho State Police report the accident happened at 10:22 am on the Yellowstone Highway near the intersection of Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls.
Officer Cosens was stationary in a 2009 Dodge Charger with the emergency and directional lights on. He was providing traffic control for a tow truck that was removing a vehicle from the roadway. Makenzi Paoli, 19 of Idaho Falls was northbound when he became distracted, striking the rear of the police car. Cosen was in the driver’s seat at the time. The police car was pushed into a 2004 Peterbuilt Tow Truck.
The Police officer was transported by ground ambulance to the Idaho Falls Hospital.
