(CNN) - Microsoft announced the largest layoff in its history Thursday.
CEO Satya Nadella says a total of 18,000 jobs will be cut within the next year.
That's about 14-percent of its 125,000 employees.
Nadella who took over for Steve Ballmer in February said Microsoft is in need of a "culture change."
Most of those affected will come from Nokia's devices and services business -- which Microsoft recently bought.
