Meeker, Colorado (KCNS) The nation's capitol Christmas Tree is preparing to make its way to Washington D.C.
Crews cut down the 73 ft. tall Engelmann Spruce on Friday in Colorado. The town of Meeker is gifting this year's tree.
More than one hundred spectators came to watch it being cut down...
"I think we will miss it, but it's worth it."
Ken Coffin, USFS Blanco District Ranger says "This tree needs to be almost perfect from all sides because it sits on the west lawn of the capitol so we really like that. He liked the shape, it's got that classic Christmas tree shape, it's full."
The tree will be on display at different cities along its more than three thousand mile cross country journey. It is expected to arrive at its final home, outside the nation's capitol building, on November 26th.
