Olympic Swimmer Headed To Rehab Two Weeks After ATV Accident

Phoenix, Arizona (CNN) Six time gold medal swimmer Amy Van Dyken-Rouen says she's happy to be alive.

This, after she was involved in an ATV accident earlier this month that injured her spine.

Van Dyken-Rouen spoke to reporters about her injury before heading to Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado to begin rehabilitation.

“So yes, this injury sucks, and yes, things hurt, but I'm alive and I'm so thankful to be alive, so that's why I can be positive about it you know, it helps get me through the pain,” she said.

The 41 year-old says she will continue to use Twitter and Instagram to keep in touch with her fans.
