Oregon School District Making Security Changes

Portland, Oregon () The Ridgefield School District in Portland, Oregon is spending nearly $80,000 on safety improvements.

Officials say the shootings at Sandy Hook and Clackamas Town Center convinced them they can't take any chances.

James Mortenson is one of two armed guards who will be patrolling ridgefield school district's four schools.

The school board is spending the $39,000 from the general fund to contract out the services to a private company. The security company is also advising the school on how to improve campus security.

They've already changed the guest check–in system.

A victim of gun violence weighs in how the tragedies have affected her.

Beth Kitselman says, "it was a pretty traumatic experience and every time something happens it brings it back."

The Ridgefield School District is also spending $40,000 to replace one hundred classroom door locks within the upcoming weeks
