Pharmacists In New Mexico Can Now Prescribe Anti-Overdose Drug
Albuquerque, New Mexico (CNN) New Mexico has become the first state to train its pharmacists to prescribe a powerful anti-overdose drug called Narcan.
Narcan is a brand name of Naloxone.
The potentially life-saving drug is designed to reverse the effects of heroin and prescription pain pill overdoses.
Health officials say they're hoping increased access to the drug will help save lives.
