Police In Utah Arrest Suspect In Triple Murder
UPDATE 9AM – THURSDAY 2/14/2013 Police in Utah have arrested a man they say is the suspect in a triple murder earlier this week. KUTV in Salt Lake is reporting that the Unified Police Department has arrested 25-year-old David Fresques. Officials say around 9:00pm Tuesday night, the South Salt Lake Police Department responded to a traffic accident at 300 E. Fenton Avenue. They say Fresques had collided with a parked vehicle while driving a stolen pick-up truck. Fresques gave officers a false name, although officers recognized him. Fresques was arrested. Detectives interviewed him and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail for one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated burglary, and one count of possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
UPDATE 1:25 PM - (KUTV) Three people are dead and a woman is critically hurt after a shooting at a Midvale home.
Police are outside the house at 8286 South Adams Street waiting to get a search warrant. The bodies of the victims, who are all believed to be adults, are still inside the house.
Unified Police say they received a 911 call from inside the house just after 8am. They say the call came while the shooting was taking place.
Police arrived and discovered the aftermath, but could not find the shooter.
Police want to talk to 25-year-old David Fresques, an ex-con and known gang member. They're calling him a person of interest and say there may be another, unidentified person involved as well.
Police say the house where the shooting took place is a known drug house. SWAT teams served a search warrant there just a few weeks ago.
Police partnered with the Canyons School District to put six area schools on lockdown while 70-80 officers searched the neighborhood. They lifted the lockdown after officers were able to deem the area safe, but kept some police presence at the schools as a precaution.
Police believe they located a white Nissan Maxima that belongs to Fresques at a Midvale Motel 6, but so far have no sign of Fresques. Police are interviewing neighbors in the area and following leads. They're asking anyone with information to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000 or 911.
David Fresques is 5'8', 180 pounds and is shaved bald. He has a long list of criminal offenses including robbery, forgery, assault and drug related crimes.
Fresques served time in prison for robbery, got out, and then got sent back for a parole violation. He was most recently released in November of 2012.
Police say right now it's not clear what connection Fresques has to the house where the shooting took place or the victims.
UPDATE 10:55 AM - 70 to 80 police officers are on the scene this morning. The person of interest is described as a bald, 5-foot-8, 180-pound Latino man.
Midvale, Utah ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Police in Midvale Utah say a man walked into a home in that community and opened fire earlier this morning. KUTV in Salt Lake City is reporting that four people were shot. Three of the victims died from their wounds and the remaining victim is in critical condition. Police are searching for 25 year old David Fresques as a person of interest. Police dogs are being utilized in the search according to KUTV reporters who are on the scene.
Police say it is possible Fresques is driving a white Nissan Maxima.
Six Schools in the area of the shooting were on police ordered lockdown but according to a report from the Salt Lake Tribune, that order has been lifted. The shooting occurred about 8am this morning.
