Protesters Enraged Over Business Gay Discrimination Bill

By KMVT News

Phoenix, Arizona (CNN) In Arizona, demonstrators gathered in protest of a bill that would allow business owners to deny services to gays and lesbians because of religious beliefs.

The Arizona legislature passed the controversial bill in a 33-27 vote Friday.

Supporters of the bill say it protects people against activist federal courts.

Critics say the measure sanctions discrimination.

The bill now goes to Governor Jan Brewer.

She told CNN Friday she doesn't think the bill needs to be a law.
Brewer has vetoed similar bills in the past.
