Rep. Giffords to resign from Congress
Washington, D.C. (CNN) Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D) Arizona says, "a lot has happened over the past year. We need to change that. But I know on the issues we fought for, we can things for the better."
Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords announced on her website Sunday that she will resign from Congress this week. Giffords is stepping down to continue her recuperation from the brain injury she suffered when she was shot in the head just over a year ago. The democratic lawmaker says she doesn't "remember much from that horrible day" and she thanks supporters for their prayers. Comments ( |
