Skydiver Dies In Group Attempt To Break World Record

By KMVT News

Eloy , Arizona (CNN) In Arizona, an experienced skydiver died Thursday during a group attempt to break a world skydiving record.

Police say 46-year-old Diana Paris from Germany was killed after her parachute apparently malfunctioned.

Her reserve chute did not open fully, because she was too low to the ground at that point.

Authorities say Paris had completed some 15-hundred skydives in her career.

Thursday she was part of a 222-person group of skydivers from around the globe trying to break the world record for group formation skydiving.

The group did not set the record due to the accident.

A spokeswoman said the group performed a special "missing man" formation dive in honor of Paris.
