Denver, Colorado ( KGMH ) A powerful snowstorm moving east through Colorado Saturday forced authorities to cancel more than one hundred flights at Denver International Airport.
The Colorado Department of Transportation closed Interstate 70 from just east of Denver to Kansas because of blizzard conditions and the northbound lanes of Interstate 25 also were closed south of Fort Collins.
Multiple accidents have been reported on snowy roadways including a tractor trailer that crashed and burst into flames.
An estimated 20 to 50 vehicles have crashed or slid off the roadway in the area.
"Anybody who is trying to go East . Everybody's who is trying to get to Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma — unfortunately they can't get that way because the highway is closed."
Road crews used hundreds of snowplows are out trying to clear slick, snow packed roadways. More snow is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.
