Straw Maze Erupts in Flames

Idaho Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) (Photo courtesy of Andrea Todd) A Straw maze in southern Idaho Falls went up in flames Tuesday night. KIFI-TV in Idaho Falls is reporting that the Idaho Falls Fire Department battled the blaze that consumed about 100 one ton straw bales. The fire erupted around 10:30 p.m. at the U Pick ‘Em Red Barn off McNeil Drive between 24th Street and Sunnyside. KMVT news has no report of any injuries resulting from the fire. Owner Preston Walker said the maze was called “Lost Straw Maze.” The owner told KIFI-TV that the maze usually closes at 10pm, but workers closed the maze about a half hour early. A back hoe was also lost in the blaze. The straw was valued at about $25 a bale. Firefighters are predicting the fire will burn till the end of the week. At this time, officials have not released what caused the fire to start.
