By KBOI

Boise, Idaho ( KBOI ) Texting and driving has been against the law in Idaho for a year now.

But police say they're still having trouble enforcing the ban. They say it's hard to prove texting while driving because people they pull over often say they were just dialing a number.

Since the ban, Boise P.D. has given out less than thirty tickets for texting.

But police say they'll continue to do their best to enforce the law.for the safety of everyone on our roads.

A texting while driving citation is about the best ticket you could get, according to police. It won't go on your driving record, and won't raise your insurance.

"We have kids on bicycles, we have pedestrians, we have people on motorcycles, we have other drivers on the roadway...we want everybody on the roadway safely...and the more distractions we have in and around the vehicle, the more difficult it is for people to focus on what their main objective should be which is driving the vehicle and keeping themselves and those around them safe," adds Sgt. Kyle Christensen, Boise Police Department.
