The ITD Meeting Monday Regarding Big Trucks

By Brittany Cooper

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Big trucks will be the spotlight of an Idaho Transportation Department meeting on Monday.

The ITD is holding a subcommittee regarding how to implement legislation involving heavier trucks using designated local and state highways.

This was quite the issue in the 2013 legislative session. The timber industry successfully fought for the package. This over objections from foes who contend that allowing 129–thousand pound trucks on more roads could make for more–dangerous driving.

This is above the current limit of 105–thousand, 500 pounds.

Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter signed the law, but says he doesn't want big trucks to be allowed over local communities' objections.
