Three Car Pileup Claims Life Of One Near American Falls
American Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Ice on the road is being blaimed for an early morning three car pileup near American Falls that claimed the life of one person. Police say the accident happened at 7:28am on State Highway 39 on a Railroad overpass in American Falls. Jack H. Clayton, age 62, of Chubbuck, ID, was driving north when he lost control of his GMC pickup truck on the ice covered road. Clayton's vehicle slid across the roadway into the southbound lane and struck a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the vehicle collided with a semi-truck that was traveling southbound. The semi-truck traveled across the road into the northbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck and a guardrail. The driver of the semi-truck, Jean V. Morris, age 52, of Mountain Home, ID, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, Christopher M. Boyd, age, 38, of Idaho Falls, ID, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Clayton was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.
