Truck Hauling Tortillas Overturns, Blocks Interstate For Over Six Hours

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Idaho State Police say a truck hauling Tortillas overturned about 6:44 am Wednesday at milepost 18, near Sand Hollow. Michael McDaniel, 32, of Puyallup, WA, was eastbound in a 2011 Freightliner pulling a trailer. McDaniel fell asleep, drove off the roadway, came back on the road and overturned.

McDaniel was wearing his seatbelt. He was transported to the West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, ID by ground ambulance. The eastbound lanes were closed for six and a half hours. At approximately 8:20 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department closed the interstate in the immediate area of the crash while the semi was up-righted and removed. It was re-opened at approximately 1:40 p.m. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
