Two Killed At CA Raceway Park

Marysville, California ( KTXL ) Opening day of racing season turns tragic at California's Marysville Raceway Park.

During warm-up laps, a speeding race car careens off the track and into a pit row, killing two members of the crew.

A 68-year old man and a 14-year old boy. The 17-year old driver of the sprint car was not injured in the crash.

Authorities believe mechanical problems may be to blame, but are still investigating.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the families that were involved, we do this for fun on the weekends, it's a racing community, racing family."

"Tragedy happens, we never know when it's going to happen and our hearts go out to the families."

The fatalities come less than a month after a crash in Daytona that injured more than thirty Nascar fans.
