South Jordan, Utah ( KSL ) A lunch lady in Utah is being called a hero for saving a child from choking.
Anne Carpenter has been serving lunches at Monte Vista Elementary School in South Jordan for nine years.
That meant she was only a few feet away during this third grade lunch.
Eight–year–old Ashley Dwyer says she was eating an orange when a friend's joke made her laugh and she started choking.
"So I ran up to the lunch lady, panicking... It was like a kind of thing. She turned me around –i raised her arms just like that and took my hands... And just thrust. And then it just shot out."
Carpenter has CPR training. Ashley's mom happened to be volunteering in the school that day in an adjacent classroom.
Ashley's parents say carpenter is a hero for saving their daughter.
