Alpine, Utah ( KTVX) Volunteers in Alpine, Utah worked for hours stacking sandbags on Saturday to prevent water from flowing into residents' homes.

John Magnussen, a volunteer says, "I've asked them a couple of times if they're ready to go home. They said 'no way..there's nothing to do at home. Let's go find another house.'"

Fay Flemming who's yard was flooded adds, "this is unreal. We've never... You know most of the time I'm struggling to get water to these old trees in here."

Still, authorities say about 12 homes in alpine were flooded. The National Weather Service said .75 inches of rain fell in just 15 minutes at the Quail Hollow Burn Scar.

The flooding forced about a hundred residents to leave their homes for a few hours on Saturday evening.

City officials issued an evacuation order for some homes after the heavy downpour turned roads into rivers. No one has been injured, but damage estimates are high.
