Vet Is Told Flag In Window Violates Policy

By KMVT News

Post Falls, Idaho (CNN) A Korean War veteran living in Idaho stood his ground for the right to display an American flag - his way.

81-year-old Curtis Benham received a notice from his home owner's association on June 24 calling the flag on his front window "inappropriate curtains" - and asking that he remove it or face fines.

Benham said the flag was staying put.

"It's a symbol, not a curtain. It's a symbol," he says.

After media coverage of the story, the HOA board met Monday and decided to rescind the violation.

That means the flag can stay.
