Woman Released After 24 Years In Custody
Phoenix, Arizona (CNN) - After being convicted of murdering her son and spending 24 years in custody, a woman who was once on death row is set to go free.
Debra Milke and two men were sent to death row for the murder of her four-year-old son in December 1989. A judge in Phoenix, Arizona, has ordered her released on bond pending a retrial.
Earlier this year, an appeals court found that the prosecution had withheld evidence that casts doubt on a police detective's claim that Milke confessed to the murder.
She denies that she ever confessed and maintains her innocence.
