1 million dollar grant for Idaho correctional facility
COTTONWOOD, Idaho (AP) _ The North Idaho Correctional Institute
is receiving a $1 million grant from a state agency for safety upgrades at the facility. The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/v7f2e3 ) the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security is expected to present a check to Idaho Department of Correction Director Brent Reinke at a ceremony later Wednesday. The grant money will cover most of the $1.4 million cost to upgrade the prison, which holds 414 inmates and is located in the small northern Idaho town of Cottonwood. Reinke's agency is expected to cover the remaining costs for the project. The project includes work to safeguard the facility against multiple hazards, including severe storms and wildfires.
