Democratic Candidate Kicks Off Run for Governor

By Brooke Yerke

The Democratic Candidate, who lost to Republican Governor Dirk Kempthorne in 2002, kicked off his run for that political position again in 2006 today in Rupert.
He wanted to take advantage of a new technology recently established there.
Jay Michaels explains.
Jerry Brady of Idaho Falls came to the historic Wilson Theatre in Downtown Rupert because of a high tech method of waste processing, now being tested northeast of that town.
“I came here because I think there's a way to make dairies more effective, more productive, to clean up the environmental problems, to create energy, and return water to the system.”
Brady is talking about the anaerobic digesters at the Whitesides Dairy Northeast of Rupert, which converts cattle manure into methane, or natural gas.
Brady's personal friend Dennis Keiser is CEO of the Idaho Falls Company, which has been providing the equipment for the project.
And the information that we've been able to garner from the operation of that plant has been immeasurable, with regards to the design and construction of future plants in the valley.
Brady says he'll be campaigning full – time for the next 19 months – and that he wants to make it a point to talk with everyone – even people who 'aren't' like himself.
Brady 'also' wants to help with the ongoing effort to restore the Historic Wilson Theatre.
No community can really thrive or prosper without the arts.
Rupert is demonstrating this commitment to the arts.
“And as governor, I would do everything possible to support the complete restoration, and full financing of the restoration.”
