Salmon teen pleads not guilty to fatal crash
SALMON, Idaho (AP) _ A 19-year-old Salmon man says he is not
guilty of one count of felony vehicular manslaughter stemming from
a crash that killed a friend last spring.
Christpher Conrad was driving the vehicle on April 8 with Steven
Blake and two other friends as passengers. The four were returning
to Salmon after attending a party in the Salmon-Challis National
Police say about five miles outside of town, Conrad drove his
vehicle off a mountain road. Prosecutors say his blood alcohol
content was twice the legal limit.
Blake died from injuries suffered in the crash.
Witnesses say Blake had been drinking at the party and some
party-goers tried stopping Conrad from driving home.
A trial is scheduled for April 15.
If convicted Conrad faces a sentence of up to 15 years and a
maximum fine of $15,000.
